i have been 30 for 12 days. i have not written about this “milestone” until now. had to make sure it was real. and it is. although i might not be ready to write about it yet, i couldn’t stand the thought of having the last entry on the main site, larger than life as the first thing. thought provoking at first… as time passes it becomes as lasting eyesore of negativity. that is not what this blog is about, nor is it what education for change is about neither…
since turning the big 3-0 i have witnessed many changes. not all of them have been internally individual, but most of them have affected me on varying personal levels. this post will serve more as a listing summary, a cleansing purge of stuff that will catch me up from that dismal and last blog post of 20’s up to the now.
since i turned thirty i have seen:
friends and family celebrating life in lebowski bath robes, appropriately bowling, doing their best to avoid the gutterballs of life
myself in a purple jumpsuit
nobody fucking with the jesus
the last days of an ineffective “superior” (read boss, a.k.a. principal)
students succeeding, students failing, students getting handcuffed and suspended… for shooting other students in class with a bee-bee gun
parents crying, parents thanking, parents teaching teachers and parents asking teachers for help
the largest federal spending spree in history (for which the president said there would be “unprecedented levels of transparency and accountability.” or what some might call this…
lots of rain (for southern californians) but no frickin’ waves!!!!
outpouring of support from colleagues
former students being productive world citizens
beginnings of new adventures with friends
can’t wait to see what is next…
